Ultra
Recommender is an easy to use and full featured website recommendation
program. It is easily customizable to match the rest of your site. You can
use a link, an image, or a form, as can be seen at the
demonstration page here. Users can click an image or link, or fill out
the form, and enter up to ten email addresses at one time. A separate
email is sent to each address, and, unless the form method is being used,
they can also add a personal message. The format of the email is also
customizable, allowing you to add whatever you wish to the head and foot
of the email. The follow-up page that the user is brought to once they
send a recommendation is easily customized in any html editor. You create
the page, insert some tags as instructed in the installation file, and
you're done.
When a user sends a message from the program, the follow-up page informs
them that their message has been sent, and how many addresses it has been
sent to. They can also select to send themselves a copy (image and link
method only). Then they simply click the generated link to go back to the
page that they clicked from originally.
The email that is sent automatically sends the URL that the user clicked
from, unless you turn this feature off, in which case the main URL that
you have entered in your config file will be sent in the email instead.
The link that is generated for the user will still take them back to the
page that they came from though. Each page can be set to use the default
URL, or it's own URL. You can also use different options on different
pages.
Ultra Recommender has been tested on UNIX, Linux, NT, Win XP and Win98.
